No, this is incorrect. Abstract and summary are two different things. An abstract is a brief overview of a longer piece of writing that highlights its main points. A summary is a condensed version of a longer work which highlights its main points.

Summary
There are many different types of supervisors and leaders. Their leadership styles vary and they work best in various situations. I will examine the leadership styles used in the Gladiator movie by Maximus Decimus Meridius, the main character. This leader in the film makes both good and bad decisions, showing that not all leaders are perfect.
Everyone has had the opportunity to experience both good and better leaders at some point. It is a fact that no two supervisors or leaders are alike. People are more likely to focus their attention on the good and ignore the bad. However, even bad leadership can be a valuable lesson for aspiring leaders. When an individual is put in a position of leadership, he or she will learn how to not act. Good leaders are the ones people emulate. For example, Maximus Decimus Meridius is the main protagonist in MacDonald’s Gladiator. This angers the son of the king and makes him jealous and greedy. Commodus then assassinates his father, accusing Maximus of being a traitor. Maximus is then sentenced to die. Maximus is saved from death, but Commodus and his men brutally murder Maximus’s family. Maximus then becomes a Gladiator and is forced into slavery. This is where his revenge against Commodus begins.
Maximus portrays a variety of leadership skills to help him and the man he is with survive the games and gain the support of the crowd. Maximus exhibited three of the most important leadership qualities: building trust, demonstrating an example to others, and fostering group pride. Maximus’ first Gladiator match was against overwhelming odds, but he still managed to show courage and tact. It showed that Maximus knew what he did and how best to defeat his enemy. Maximus’ first victory was achieved when the men began to listen to him and follow his orders. Maximus built trust with his warriors by always looking out for them and keeping them safe. He achieved this during a gladiator’s battle by sacrificing himself to save one of his fellow soldiers. It helped to build trust amongst his warriors, and a sense of pride. As the movie progressed, you could see how this was slowly developing. Maximus’ warriors begin to joke around and make fun of each other, becoming a true brotherhood. They knew they could depend on each other, and had a cause to fight for.
Maximus did a good job of developing his team and making them strong. However, not all leaders are perfect. Maximus excelled at building his team up and developing them. Maximus did not show the necessary leadership qualities in this film. For example, he was not an active coach. Maximus was occupied with figuring out the best way to survive in order to achieve his revenge. He didn’t spend much time thinking about what his men needed to succeed. It was more about Maximus following him to get revenge. In one scene, I wish that I had done it differently. It was the attempt to escape. Maximus confides in his queen, who he believes will help him escape from the gladiator camps. Maximus is captured and half of Maximus’ men are slaughtered. If I were in Maximus’ situation, I’d have used the Queen to help get the other side of Maximus’ army back to Rome. And I’d also try to figure out how to defeat the king. It would of given me a better chance to defeat the King.
The stress of a combat-like environment is different from the peacetime job environment. The most important difference is the time-critical nature of decision-making. A leader or supervisor in a combat situation has little time to think and make decisions. They must act quickly to accomplish the mission and save their men. The dynamics of combat are constantly changing and things move so quickly. This is why making timely decisions is crucial. In contrast to the dynamic of a normal job during peacetime, it is rare for the environment of work to change dramatically in a very short time. Missions are usually unchanged. It allows the leaders to take their time and think before making a decision.
My favorite supervisory characteristic is to set an example that others can follow. To achieve this, I rely on hard work and professionalism. I also maintain a healthy physical condition. Every day I do this for my Marines, whether it is by taking them on early morning runs to ensure that they adhere to standards or teaching them how to properly perform their jobs. I am ready every day to come to work in a positive manner, to lead my Marines, to train them, and to equip them with the tools to be successful.
I believe that learning is best done through experience. This is why leaders who are “textbook” are usually weak and ineffective. They learn by doing, even if it is wrong. This builds confidence in a leader and helps them discover their leadership style. When I first became a Marine Corps leader, I had no idea how to lead or act. I would often act on emotion, or pretend to know something that I didn’t. I soon realized this was not the best way to behave.
Many people tell me that leaders are born. I don’t believe it. I believe that anyone can be a good leader, if you put in enough time and effort. Experiences, attitude, and knowledge can all help. The person can develop these qualities and become someone that people will look up to. Also, leaders make mistakes. Recognize them, take responsibility for them and learn to not repeat them. The leader will be able to achieve their goals, just like Maximus from the Gladiator film.
