There are two types of characters in “The Pursuit of Happiness”: those who accept personal responsibility and those that don’t. To accept your personal responsibility, you must adopt a creator mindset. You also need to use a creator language. Some characters in “The Pursuit of Happiness” are able to master self-management while others struggle. You must live in quadrants one through two to master self-management. Also, you should develop self-discipline and self-confidence. But those who are not able to do so can work on their weaknesses.

First, it is important to accept personal responsibility. I believe Chris Gardner, if not any other person, did that. He was able to see the many options available to him and his son to make their lives better. He could do what he wanted and get a job as a stockbroker. They are now able to get back on track and live a happy lifestyle. Chris definitely had an inner critic as well as an inner defender when his wife was killed. His inner critic said that Chris would not be able live a happy and fulfilled life. He was determined to make the best possible of his situation. His inner guide came back saying that he was going to do all he could to help my son. Second, he was self-motivated and had self-control. He was clear about what he needed to accomplish and he would stay focused and persistent. And he did. But he is willing to do whatever it takes and stay wherever it takes him.

He had self-confidence because he was a successful individual and creator. So he and his son can find happiness. He is now a stockbroker at Dean Witter.

The movie was called “The pursuit of happiness” because Chris and his child experienced happiness. But happiness was not the only thing that happened in the film. It was hard at first, as he worked so hard to earn the job. They needed money to eat and settle down. They needed it to have a happy and fulfilled life.

It sold 140,000 copies, surpassing Justin Bieber’s “Sorry”, which debuted at number 2 the following week with 40,000 copies. It was streamed 4.79million times, making it the fastest streamed song in a single week. [44]Musicvideo[edit]I saw a story as soon as I heard this song. This video is very unoriginal. The lyrics begin with “Hello! It’s Me” and then the video shows someone picking up their phone. I don’t have the ability to imagine super-conceptual videos. I’m not good at imagining super-conceptual videos. [46][47] A recently separated woman calls a younger her version of self. [45] Large portions of the video (mostly the end on the pond or the shot when she opens her eyes at the beginning) were filmed by IMAX cameras. They also made the first IMAX music video. [48] The video draws inspiration from Dolan’s semi-autobiographical debut I Killed My Mother, which was made when Dolan was barely 20. [45] The video was shot in Quebec on September 2015 over four days. [45] American actor Tristan Wilds stars in the video.

Dolan claimed that Adele called Dolan in response to an unspecified act of police brutality at the United States. Dolan also suggested that she not choose a Caucasian male for her love interest. Dolan said, “She was just as concerned with the realities of tensions among authorities and the African community, and she wanted to send out a message. Wilds accepted Dolan’s offer to be a part of the video. [51] Wilds was asked to tap into past relationships to help her convey her emotions. Dolan also captured shots of Wilds and Adele laughing and having conversations. [51] The clip is darkly sepia and features Adele performing the song outdoors in a forest and inside. It also contains scenes of Wilds making a call and flashbacks back to their past relationships. The video’s flip phone, which Adele used to perform the song, was widely discussed because of its retro design.

Dolan responded to the comments by saying that he feels uncomfortable filming iPhones as it makes him feel like he’s shooting a commercial. These things: Laptops, iPhones and all the other elements that they include, for me, bring me back into reality. You want freedom from your life. Although I realize that my flip phone has been distracting me more than any other device, it was not intentional. [53] The song’s music videos broke the Vevo Record of 27.7 Million views in just 24 hours. [54] Miley-Cyrus’s Wrecking Ball Vevo record was broken by the video for reaching 100 million views within five days. [55] The YouTube search for “Adele hi” was also the highest on Friday and Saturday. The peak of the video’s first hour was 1.6 million. That was more than the peak of the trailer of Star Wars: The Force awakens which had a peak of 1.2 million views each hour. The clip was also parodied on Saturday Night Live’s Thanksgiving-themed skit. [57]The video has over 2.2 million views and is currently the fifteenth most-viewed on YouTube. [59][60] On 29 May 2016, the video became the third YouTube video to reach 10,000,000 likes. It has now been viewed over 12 million times as of December 2017. This makes it the fifth most popular YouTube video.

Other videos that have been liked by more than 10,000,000 people are “Gangnam Style”, See You Again”,Despacito and “Shape” [61]Live performances[edit]Adele performed”Hello live for the first time for a BBC one-hour-long special, Adele at the BBC, which was recorded on 2 November 2015 and was broadcast on BBC One on 20 November 2015. Billie Holiday’s song “Strange Fruit” has been a well-known protest song since the 1930s. It’s still a topic of conversation today. It was originally composed in 1937 as a poem by Abel Meeropol. This essay will analyze the background to the lyrics and how they relate to events taking place in American society. This essay will also examine the reasons Billie wrote Strange Fruit to raise awareness about race’s true dark side.

Abel Meeropol is a Jewish schoolteacher who was also a Communist Party member. It was written as a protest against racism, and the lynchings of African Americans. He was inspired to write ‘Strange Fruit’ by a photograph of Thomas Shipp & Abram Smith that shows them being lynched and hanging on trees. Meeropol had proposed ‘Strange Fruit’ for Barney Josephson. Josephson asked if Billie Holiday would be interested in the song. Meeropol said Billie had previously performed the song at Cafe Society Harlem. “This was exactly how I wanted the song and why I wrote.” Holiday had played the song at Cafe Society, Harlem. Meeropol commented that Holiday’s performance of Strange Fruit was a tribute to her father. Holiday also performed the song. “Southern forests bear a strange berry, Blood at the roots, black bodies swinging on the Southern breeze,” these dark lyrics refer to black bodies hanging from trees covered in blood. The lyrics do not mention Lynching but it is obvious that they describe the scene Meeropol saw with Smith and Shipp hanging on trees. Holiday is also important. She had been called a nigger by a naval officer and she had retaliated, smashing a beer glass and threatening to stab her with a sharp knife. She can use Strange Fruit to express her feelings and touch the audience. This is a sign that racism got to her emotionally. Her father was refused treatment at a white-only hospital and she received racist comments. Holiday was given some guidelines by Barney Josephson. Holiday must perform Strange Fruit in the final set. Waiters must stop serving her during the song. Holiday must also close all sets with it. “People had be reminded of Strange Fruit, and have their insides burned by the song,” Barney Josephson stated. This was to make sure that the listener felt uncomfortable, as it implied racism against black people. Strange Fruit is still a favorite of many artists, including Nina Simone, who called it the “ugliest song” she had ever heard. It was brutal and made her cry for the white people who have wronged her people. Kanye West used Nina Simone’s Strange Fruit song for Blood on the leaves. Culturally, ‘Strange Fruit was a huge hit. Campaigners for anti-lynching laws had sent copies to Congressman. Samuel Grafton, a New York Post journalist, described Strange Fruit as a magnificent work of art. Campaigners used ‘Strange Fruit to attack the Government. This gives them an eerie and dark look at lynching. Sylvia said, “It’s such a sad tune,’ adding that it was a metaphor about my uncle and the many grandfathers, brothers, fathers, and uncles who were lynched across America.” This is a sign that people can relate and understand the song. However, Strange Fruit was not popular in many places, especially outside of New York. People who have been victims or witnessed lynchings may find the lyrics to be a trigger for their memories. “Its subject was too difficult and controversial.”

Jerry Wexler, the producer of Ray Charles and Aretha Franklin, also had opinions about the song. He stated that the lyrics were good but the song didn’t interest his as a song. The song had too many political agendas and people adopted it because it was political. Evelyn Cunningham expressed a similar opinion. She claimed that a lot of black people will hear about lynchings. Cunningham’s opinion, while based on musical taste and perception, is true. But it tells us the truth. Cunninghams opinions are accurate. Cunninghams views reflect the pain that many black people have gone through.

Billie Holiday had a tremendous impact on popular culture. Many Americans felt the same way she did. It still has an impact on many people today. As racism is inevitable, she didn’t stop it. People have opinions on race and others will not disagree. Another reason for the current racism is that many people grew up in a culture that was rife with racism. While lynchings may be less common these days, police brutality continues to be practiced.

The Oedipus compound was named by Sigmund Francs after Oedipus the accidental murderer and his mother. Oedipus soon realizes that he is guilty and he cuts his eye. Similar to Oedipus the idea states that young boys become sexually attracted toward their mother’s but feel jealousy and hatred towards father. These negative emotions are caused by their desire to be a mother, but not share the love. However, society regards incest as a horrible attribute and boys need to learn how to stop their sexual desires. Simba seems to be very incestuous about his mother’s love. Simba’s incestuous affection is obvious in the waterhole scene. Simba sings “I just can’t wait to become king”, which is a subtle indication of his tainted love. Although his desire may seem innocent, if one examines further one can see the hidden evil behind it. Simba’s desire for fulfillment can only come to an end when the father of his current king, Mufasa, is either dead or willing to step down. Simba’s excitement about becoming king comes after his father said that everything Mufasa, which includes his mother, is his, and that he would be taking over Pride Rock. Simba’s desire for kingship is his way of showing his desire to succeed his father. Simba’s insistence on visiting the elephant burial ground despite being told to not by Zazu and his dad, can be seen as a bid to win over his mother and to prove his bravery. Simba cannot protect himself and his friends against the hyenas without Mufasa. Simba puts his tiny hand on his father’s larger foot print. The cub is forced to see this image in front of him. He realizes that Mufasa’s paw print is much larger and more powerful than his. This realization doesn’t just deflate Simba, but also forces him to make an important choice: challenge his father or join him. Simba starts the identification process by imitating his father’s attributes. Understanding the reasons people commit crime is an important part of criminology. There are people who do not commit serious crimes like kidnapping or burglary. Serial murder refers to the killing of multiple victims in a series of separate incidents that span weeks, months or even years. Serial killers do not have the same criminality as anyone else. Many serial killers are classified under one of these general theories. Aileen Wournos, a female serial slayer, is a good example. We can see how criminal behavior can be determined by using both psychological and biological theories.

Monster is based upon the story of Aileen Wuornos (a Florida prostitute who murdered seven men over a twelve-month period). She shot them at point blank range in 1989, 1990. Aileen claimed her victims had been raped or attempted raped while she was a prostitute. She also said that she had killed in self defense. Aileen was tried, convicted, and sentenced to first-degree murder. Her other murders resulted in either “guilty”, “no fight” pleas. Aileen passed away by lethal injection October 2002. Aileen also had a profit typology. Revenge typology means that someone murders in jealousy or resentful. Crime typology means that someone is trying to make a profit by killing someone else. Aileen Wuornos talks about her childhood in the film. It gives us an insight into why and how she became a serial criminal killer. Wuornos was abused and abandoned by her family members and the community. Shelby Wuornos, her girlfriend, recalled the pain and shame she felt growing up in Funderland. Her mother abandoned her and left her to her parents. Her father then committed suicide. She was raised with her grandparents. Wuornos began prostitution in her youth to make a living. She was already abusing drugs and alcohol by the time she was 15. Aileen also spoke out about childhood abuses. Aileen told of her father’s friend’s rape and her dad beat her for it.

Aileen WUORNO’s actions and life can be correlated to several theories about criminal behavior. The psychological theory, as well the biological theory, are theories that Wuornos has been linked to. It is believed that it is related to genetics. Lombroso believed that criminals were born and raised. This implies that criminals are inherited from their parents their criminal behaviour. This psychological theory is what she uses to diagnose anti-social disorder. The anti-social disorders is a long-term mental condition that affects how a person thinks, perceives situations and interacts with others. Borderline personality disorders is a mental illness characterised by unstable emotions and impulsive reactions.

Wuornos and the biological theory can be correlated to show that Wuornos could have had a major role in her behavior. Aileen’s father, who was a verbally and physically abusive alcoholic, was well-known for being sexually abusive. She may have inherited some of her father’s traits, even though she didn’t grow up with him. This may have led to her inheriting the violent and volatile behavior of her father. Wuornos was a volatile and hostile person who murdered seven men. She also had numerous criminal convictions. Wuornos also came from an alcohol-abusing family. Wuornos was seen drinking with her victims right before they were killed or drinking prior to their deaths. This suggests that violent families have a higher likelihood of raising violent children.

Psychological theory suggests Wuornos may have been a serial killer because of her life experiences. Aileen was anti-social because she could not conform to social norms about lawful behavior.

Shelby’s manager told Shelby that Shelby could not smoke in his restaurant. Shelby also yelled at her and pushed over the manager. She also has border personality disorder. Shelby was the first to meet her at the bridge bar. She attempted suicide hours before meeting Shelby. She was unstable and idolized. She was unstable due to her mood swings.

It is possible to learn from serial killers about their lives and how they came to be so violent. Some blame external, social, or psychological factors. But others believe that self-control is the only way to stop it. It is important to have a general theory model. This gives other people insight into criminals’ thoughts and development. Information about criminals is a key component of society’s ability to eradicate crime and create safer societies. Aileen’s death is not justified. However, we can see that her path to her final fate was influenced by psychological and biological disorders.

The first female prime-minister, Margaret Thatcher is the subject of the events depicted in “The Iron Lady”. Margaret Thatcher purchases milk at the grocery store as if she were a regular grandma in her town. When she returns home, she is greeted by the security and servants who take care of her concerns about leaving the house. They are her former prime minister. Margaret continues to have breakfast each morning with her husband. He died many years back so it is not a hallucination. She must get over her husband, get rid of all his possessions and she will have to try to do so while all her memories are coming back to her. Margaret is first informed by Oxford College about her acceptance. Her father owned a grocery shop and was also the mayor of the village. His conservative views that workers should work together to make Britain great were strongly influenced her. After graduating, she was drawn to politics and tried to run for the office of parliament. Dennis Thatcher proposes Margaret to him and tells her that Margaret will be able to get into the parliament through their marriage. She is elected, and she is the only female member of parliament. Britain is suffering a post-war economic decline. The economy is also crashing down as many workers strike for a better income. The blame is falling on the Conservative party and the trade union continues its fight against them. Marget thatcher, the former prime minister, decides she will run for the job and begins training. She wins the election and is elected first female prime minster. However, conflicts arise quickly. She decides to eliminate the trade union and ensure that only efficient jobs are available. Although she is met with resistance and loses her loyalty, after winning the war on Falkland islands against the Argentinean pirates, she gains respect and loves herself. Great Britain’s economy starts to prosper and businesses start making money. The decision to make all British citizens pay the same tax leads to violent protests. There was even an explosion in her hotel room. She decides to resign rather than run again, as the conservative party betrays her. After this, her hallucination vanishes and she returns to normal life.

Margaret Thatcher is the protagonist. It is a movie about Margaret Thatcher’s life and how it influenced the economic recovery of Great Britain and the end to the cold war. Margaret Thatcher is the main character and shows her relationships to other people. The men who are patronizing Margaret Thatcher are the antagonists. They oppose Margaret Thatcher’s views and believe she cannot be successful because she is a woman. Margaret, who is the secretary to the education department talks to the union about why the school can’t function. Margaret’s excessive screeching and lowering of voice are laughed at by the men. In protest of Margaret’s tax laws the men made posters and shouted at her to tell her to stay home and take care her children as a mom. While the movie is focused on Margaret Thatcher’s life as the first woman prime Minister, it is also about Margaret’s struggle to reconcile with her husband. When Margaret first started to become involved in politics, her husband was a great support and help. Margaret doesn’t want to leave her husband when he suddenly passes away so quickly. Margaret continues to believe that her husband is still around and she keeps having hallucinations. Margaret realizes she can no longer live like this old, paranoid woman. So she packs everything she has and tosses them. Margaret’s husband leaves Margaret at this point. Her past memories are filled with conflict about fighting prejudice against women in politics. She is determined to see a country change and wasn’t afraid to be different. Her bravery and courage are what make her so great.

Margaret, who is chosen to be the Prime Minister for Great Britain, is the first event that accurately depicts what actually happened. It was historic and surprising to see a woman lead a government during her time. Men dominated every position in the parliament.

It is accurate to portray Margaret Thatcher as she discussed the war against Argentina with the United States. She was a strong believer in herself and confident with her own opinions. She was a kind of tomboy, who never hesitated to speak up and did not fear being hated. She will be remembered for her generosity over time. The first of these two events is when she enters the House of Commons. It is obvious that she is not the only woman wearing blue amongst those in black suits. While this is probably exaggerated, Margaret was not alone in her experience. Margaret had to compete against the men who patronized and she wasn’t as popular as women today. Geoffrey Howe’s portrayal in the movie is incorrect. His role as foreign secretary to Margaret Thatcher was crucial. But he is portrayed as weak and inept in the movie.

The film was influenced by social factors. The parliament of Great Britain, despite having equal rights to men by law, was still dominated predominantly by men. Margaret Thatcher was initially viewed with suspicion because of her gender. Despite her hard work, her achievements and her respect, men still treat her poorly throughout the film. Second, the film’s political element plays a crucial role. The House of Commons is divided between the conservatives and the trade union over the issue of unemployment, as well as the drop in the economy. Margaret is determined to continue her conservative views, which were heavily influenced by her father. She will make sure that people work and contribute to the country, rather than striking, when she becomes prime minister.

Because the film helps viewers understand historical events, they can better comprehend the struggles Margaret Thatcher went through and the hard work she put in to defeat the oppressive men who wanted to make her country great. Her name was not known before the movie. People will learn more about Margaret’s achievements for Great Britain after watching the movie. Great Britain was in turmoil and there was a lot of unemployment. Margaret helped to improve it. She was a vital part of bringing back Great Britain and ending civil war with the Soviet Union.

Ray Charles, an “…American songwriter, musician, leader, and pianist, was well-known. His style was influenced a lot by rhythm and blues and jazz as well as country music. Ray Charles’s career was filled with memorable hits, including “Hit the Road, Jack,” Georgia on My Mind, “What’d I Say” and “What’d I Say.” Charles is often credited for creating “soul,” which is a mixture of blue and gospel styles, with a lot of passion. Charles earned the “Father of Soul” and “Genius of Music” titles due to his creation.

Ray Charles Robinson, “was a child of a poor family, born in Albany on September 23, 30, 1930”. His father Bailey Robinson worked as a mechanic while his mother Aretha Robinson worked as a sharecropper. She raised Charles Robinson and George Robinson during Great Depression. Charles was born in Greenville, Florida. His family later moved there when he was still a child. Charles was born with Glaucoma. This eye disease causes the optic nerve to be damaged and is not treated. Ray Charles Robinson was born Ray Charles. He lost his vision at 5 years old after seeing his brother drown. But, Charles’ eventual blindness turned out to be medical and not traumatizing. When he was seven years old, he went completely blind after his right eye was surgically removed. He was accepted by the Florida School for the Deaf and Blind, St. Augustine. He learned braille, typing and basket weaving at this school. Charles also made close friends with a Greenville neighbor who played the piano. This neighbor was a good friend of his and he taught him the blues style piano. His neighbor became blind and he was unable to practice anymore. He was allowed to learn clarinet, piano, and alto Saxophone at his Florida school. He also learned how to arrange and compose music from memory. Charles’s interest in jazz, blues, and classical music was piqued by his strict education at school. He was 15 years old when his mother died. This inspired him to become a professional musician. Shortly thereafter, Charles’ father died, leaving his brother and him orphaned. Charles continued to pursue the music career he had always wanted. He performed solos and toured with various bands, specializing in blues, country and jazz music. “Charles began to find success on the West Coast. He formed the McSon Trio in Seattle with Milt and Gossady Jarret as the first all African-owned group to have a television show sponsored. The group’s first single, “Confession Blues”, was a hit in R&B. Ray Charles was signed by many record companies soon after the group released many more hits.

Charles signed his Atlantic Records first solo contract in 1951 in Los Angeles after he had moved there in 1950. Ray Charles Robinson changed the name of his father to Ray Charles Robinson in order not to be confused with Ray Robinson, a prominent boxer at that time. Charles could perform many types of music including jazz, blues and country. So it took time to discover his own style. Charles’ first hit, “I Got a Woman”, was produced by Ahmet Ertegun (producer) and Jerry Wexler (producer). He was heavily criticised for often using gospel idioms. However, he continued his use of gospel references throughout his career. Many other controversial songs were released by him, including “Drown In My Own Tears” (which was banned on African American radio stations because of its explicit sexuality). Charles had many hits. The record company gave him creative liberty, which allowed Charles to explore different vocal styles. Charles eventually hired a female backup singer group that would perform his well-known call and answer songs like “What’d I Say,” and in 1959, he released his debut album “Ray Charles” and an instrumental album “The Great Ray Charles”

Ray Charles was a prolific billboard hit-maker, with many more hits to follow. However, he has always maintained his distinctive style.

He was both blind and African American, inspiring many people to realize their dreams around the globe. Charles’ determination and hard work helped establish “soul”, a genre still popular today. The Rock & Roll Hall of Fame explains that Ray Charles defines soul as “soul.” In 1968, Charles stated that the force of soul was a light that could light up a space. This force radiates from an inner sense of selfhood. It’s a feeling of knowing your past and its meaning. Soul is a way to live, but it’s often the difficult way. Charles was a musician and record artist up until his death due to liver disease in June 2004 at the age of 72.

“The Laramie Project” is a story about a group young people who created a play about events in Laramie, Wyoming. Interviews were conducted by the group about Matthew Shepard’s murder. Matthew was a gay student who had sexually assaulted two straight teens at a bar. Matthew was then taken by these teenagers and tied to a tree. They then beat him into unconsciousness, and finally killed him. I was both disappointed and hopeful by the human actions.

I was saddened by the fact that no one wanted to discuss the town shootings. It wasn’t because they were grieving, but because they didn’t want being bothered. This was quite strange to me. This is your chance for representation of yourself and your locality. But people were more upset by the attention than they were about the actual murder. Their priorities really weren’t straight. They were not unwilling to talk about the matter. This was because they didn’t want anyone to blame their small town of Laramie for the homophobic mentality. This cold-shoulder approach is still prevalent in our society today. People won’t talk about the real issues like police brutality and queer individuals’ troubles. These issues deserve to be discussed in the public spotlight. This country would not be able to move forward if everyone thought the same thing. The film’s main theme was the excessive victim shaming. I found it shocking that some people said Matthew Shepard was to blame, that he had been “asking.” This is unacceptable especially given today’s standards. People in the film talked about Matthew being gay and having been sexually harassed by two boys. Or that Matthew was “flaunting his gayness.” This is worse than saying Matthew is a saint for having HIV. It is almost like saying that Matthew is a bad person for having been exposed to smoking. It is clear that the Laramie residents were not sympathetic to Matthew’s horrific murder. Victim blaming is not limited to hate crimes. This is also evident in contemporary debates about what women should wear to their bodies. Brock Turner, a Stanford Rapist who had raped a woman unconscious, was the latest example. Many people are still defending his actions with comments like “she shouldn’t be drunk”. Oder Brock Turner could have avoided raping her, which is even better! Maybe Henderson or McKinney did not torture Matthew Shepard to get their attention! Sometimes, I am baffled by the ignorance of certain people.

But not all scenes in “The Laramie Project”, however, were negative. I was encouraged by a few scenes. I was pleased to see the section gaining more support during the parade in the town. It showed me that there were still people in the town willing to stand up for Matthew, even if others might see them as LGBTQ supporters. You can only imagine what support such a service could receive in other parts if it was able to draw a crowd in Laramie. It was unfortunate, but it was something I found to be a shame. To convince people that homosexuality wasn’t so bad, it took the murder of a young man. They did eventually come together, and that is what I think really matters.

Overall, “The Laramie Project”, I thought was a great film. The film’s style was very neat, as it was based on an interview for controversial plays. I was initially confused by the documentary’s real-time nature. It was very moving at times and made me feel even more for the LGBTQ community. It can be difficult to come out in rural areas where there are so many close-minded people. Although I believe the world has much to do before equality is possible for everyone, I believe we are moving in the right direction.

“Freedom Writers” a movie about Erin Gruwell, an American teacher and visionary, is based in America. Erin motivates and shows her class of aggressive and confrontational students that life is not all about gang bangers and death. Erin has to deal with indifference from both her students and the school administration. Erin’s students are encouraged to write, read and have adventures outside school. This allows them to overcome conflict and helps them become more resilient when they face life-threatening challenges.

Marcus is the character I want to concentrate on from Freedom Writers. Marcus is the character I find most touching and heartbreaking. I’m struck by Marcus’s unwavering loyalty. I think this is due to his roots. No mention is made of a father figure, and it’s possible that his only influences were the other kids in his neighborhood. Marcus’ loyalty to his family is evident. I believe that Marcus’ mother was very involved in instilling this idea. He may have been part of gangs in the neighborhood where he lived. This could be why he started affiliating to them. These gangs found the loyalty of his mother to be very appealing, as one of their main goals is to provide protection to your peers.

Marcus’s chronosystem is also important because it marks a crucial stage. His mother clearly opposes gang activity. However, she is well-informed about the subject so that Marcus can begin affiliating to them. Marcus didn’t tell her. It is possible that Marcus was not aware of this. Her son then joins them. Marcus’s chronosystem begins when his mother kicks Marcus out of his house because he is a member of a gang. Marcus hasn’t been able to make connections since then. Marcus is now a solo student who doesn’t seem connected to his gang affiliation. His microsystem has shrunk since his mother kicked it out. He is now reliant on the influence of the gang to which he belonged.

It’s easy for Marcus to claim that he grew up in an exosystem with low functioning functions. He is not able to fully integrate at the school where he attends. A more significant aspect of his system is the inability to access credible youth centers or proper CPS support. Marcus is forced to live in a shack and has only the most basic necessities after his expulsion. Marcus is a teenager but the film still shows him as a minor. Marcus must have somewhere to shelter himself and has no other options. Marcus wouldn’t have been living in that shack if his mother had kicked her out, for whatever reason. If his mother didn’t care for him, Marcus would have been placed in a youth center or the foster system. Marcus’s entire system is dangerously insensitive to the needs minors like himself who are homeless, estranged and heavily influenced gang activity.

My opinion and Marcus’s reliance on real people in similar situations leads me to believe that Marcus’s macrosystem has a problem. Many people who I meet with about schools and underprivileged areas, or the children involved in them, assume that those responsible for these programs are not using resources. We have many government-funded programs that are designed to protect “at-risk” young people. These programs are funded by tax dollars, so people believe that teenagers refuse to receive aid. This is often false. Ignorance is the greatest problem with programs such as these government programs. The program doesn’t have the right outreach resources to reach the people in need, or they don’t even know about these programs. They may not be stupid but this does not mean they have no other priorities. They don’t have to know where to find help. They won’t.

Marcus is one of many teenagers who are denied the help they need and are thus treated differently.

Marcus is a quiet character that lives alone most of the time. His micro- and megasystems are not conducive to his loyal and kind nature. Marcus’s exosystem is lacking in resources. Marcus is fortunate to be able to access great aid systems, but they aren’t well-publicized enough for him or others to know about them.
