The “escapist”, or fantasy movies, can easily produce artistic views that aren’t possible in everyday life. With its stunning special effects and simple plot, Spider-Man brought the super-powered engineer alive. The movie ended with a final battle that showcased the talents of both the protagonist and the villain. High-quality action movies create images that are durable and stay in your mind. The images create a sense of power and aggression that some people crave. Rewatching a movie can help you to soak up the story of a great fight scene, just like a person who repeatedly watches it to gain greater meaning. Many people watch movies in order to realize their Freudian dreams and to increase their ability to think. It’s difficult to satisfy both ends of the spectrum in one movie. It’s not easy to make the Lord of the Rings, or any other superhero movie, (The Dark Knight excluded), complex enough for intellectual viewing. It is difficult to add fantasy elements to a film that is not escapist, as the characters lose the cartoon-like quality that makes them great in blockbuster films.

Many may believe that Notorious B.I.G. is responsible for the death of Tupac Shakur. Many may believe that Tupac Shakur’s death was caused by their rivalry as rappers, but Orlando Anderson is the real culprit. Anderson had brawls and fought with Shakur outside the casino.

Afeni Shakur, Billy Garland’s son, were the parents of Tupac Shakur. He was born in Brooklyn in 1971 and died in Las Vegas in September 1996. Shakur and his family moved from state-to-state as children before finally settling in Baltimore. He also attended Baltimore School of Arts. This school helped him to develop his academic and creative skills. He felt fulfilled and able to be himself. His mother made him move to Marin City with his sister before he could graduate. The move to Marin City was Shakur’s last. He forgot all about school and he focused on the pursuit of money. His obsession with money led him to become a street vendor, drug dealer, and gang leader. Shakur saw people being murdered while he was in California. His gangsta lifestyle was what inspired him to start rapping and make movies. Some people argue that he would still live in Baltimore today if it wasn’t for his gangsta lifestyle. Others think that he might not have followed the path that was set for him, which would have prevented his rapping career from taking off as well.

Notorious B.I.G met Tupac when he was doing his job at Poetic Justice Los Angeles. It was Biggie’s first major hit song and made him feel the same way that an artist like Tupac felt about his music. They quickly became friends and believed that their friendship would continue forever. Biggie looked to Tupac as advice for how to grow his career. Though he knew Shakur had more experience in the rapping scene, he also knew that Shakur’s friendship would end. They performed together at Madison Square Garden, even freestyling back-and-forth. Pac was also a star in Hollywood and a platinum-selling musician.

Biggie was not progressing in his career at a similar pace to him. Biggie even asked Pac to be his manager. He declined. Pac said to Biggie that he would make him a superstar one day and to keep Pac Puff. When Biggie visited Los Angeles from New York, they spent time at Shakur’s Los Angeles residence. They smoked, listened to music and drank. He was well-known for his movies and his rapping career. Tupac made friends with Jimmy Henchman & Jaques ‘˜Haitianjack’ Agnant. However, Biggie warned Pac against getting involved with men like these. Pac didn’t listen and did what he wanted.

Shakur was walking to New York City’s recording studio when he was attacked, shot, and beaten five times the day after hanging out with Agnant/Henchman. Later, he discovered that Biggie and PuffDaddy were in the building. He believed that Biggie was the one responsible. That was it. The friendship ended and we were left with rivalry.

He went on to perform at more concerts and act in more films after their breakup. He was returning to his hotel room one night when he encountered a fan flirting with him. He invited her to his room. He was convicted of the sexual abuse of the young girl and sentenced to four years and one half in prison. Tupac was still in the sexual abuse trial. He couldn’t afford the plea. Death Row Records offered to pay Tupac’s plea. Shakur signed up for their label so that his career could continue.

After the altercation, Tupac attended Mike Tyson and Bruce Seldon’s boxing match, September 7, 1996, Las Vegas, Nevada. Shakur and the entourage made their way to the MGM Grand Hotel, where they were spotted in the lobby fighting Orlando Anderson. Anderson is a member from the Southside Compton Crips group. Shakur, Marian Knight, and Shakur were heading to Las Vegas’ 662 nightclub in Las Vegas a few hours later.

They were suddenly greeted by a white car in front at Flamingo Road’s traffic light. Then the shots were fired. Twelve bullets were fired. Four bullets struck Shakur, one hit Knight’s head. Tupac Shakur was immediately taken to University of Medical Center for emergency surgery. His chances of surviving the operation were high and he was able to improve his health.

Induced coma was put on him, but he died six days later from internal bleeding. He was revived by doctors, but his mother Afeni Shakur failed to save him.

Some people may not be familiar with finance. To grab viewers’ attention, the director added some humor and pop-culture explanations to finance. It provides a global overview of Wall Street’s collapse and the impact on the financial markets worldwide. The movie also looks at some investors that foresaw the collapse of the mortgage securities industry and its subsequent crash. There are three stories in the movie, all connected by the housing bubble. The characters were aware of the imminent market crash and they decided to profit from it. They also short-bet against the stable mortgage market. This paper will discuss the role of these individuals in the financial meltdown that has occurred in recent history. Christian Bale is the actor who plays Michael Burry. In the movie, he plays a hedge-fund managing director who is socially inept. Even though he was not trusted, he understood and believed that there was a housing market crisis from the beginning. Later, lawsuits and threats were made against him by investors. Michael Burry correctly predicted the market but his timing is not right. He saw it coming so early that he had no choice but to wait and risk a serious loss. Although he was able eventually to stay on the sidelines long enough for trades to be made, it left him with a deep wound. Steve Carell played Mark Baum. He was another key character in the financial crisis. He is a former fund manager who was recently affected by a tragedy in his family. He is aware of the possibility of a crisis but isn’t sure how large it will be. Mark Baum doesn’t use spreadsheets to figure out his answer, like Michael Burry. Instead, he focuses more on the real-world. His team went on the streets to witness the housing bubble. They noticed a disturbing problem in late payments and foreclosures of uninformed individuals. They are all expecting the housing market will rise. Mark Baum realizes the risks are much greater than he imagined after a conversation with bankers. It’s only a matter if the bubble bursts before everything goes downhill. His team was given an order by him to “Shorten every guy that has touched” He also spoke in a hopeless, despairing sigh, saying, “I’m going find moral redemption.” He was aware, and afraid, of the consequences of the industry on thousands of lives. It was also clear that he had contributed to that crash. He didn’t do it to make money. He was actually disgusted at the industry and wanted justice for the average American, the one who is most hurt by a crash. Baum and Burry both want to win but they also want to be successful.

The last characters in the story are Jamie Shipley and Charlie Geller. Two young traders discover the potential for a housing bubble and convince Ben Rickert to help access the financial markets. Brad Pitt portrays Ben Rickert. He left the banking industry after past conflicts and disillusionment and moved to a rural location. He was a mentor to Wittrock and Shipley throughout the film and helped them win against the housing market. Rickert became upset that the Americans were losing their market. Rickert continued, saying, “If they’re wrong, people lose their homes. People lose jobs. People lose their retirement savings and pensions. What do you hate about banking? Although they are all from different parts of the world, these characters noticed the problem with mortgage securities. This is especially true for those that depend on high-risk subprime loan inflation. Every character that finds out about the possible crisis is shocked, and they hope it was wrong. They were also shocked when their beliefs proved to be right. The characters were faced with an ethical dilemma. Although they bet against the United States’ market, the possibility of its collapse was present in the world’s banking system as well as the economy. It was a game that saw one person win and another lose. They could be the one who sees and corrects a problem. They were conflicted about their selfishness to make millions out of this situation.

The Big Short movie is a complex, serious and difficult subject that the director does a great job with. However, the director has an impressive eye for detail and a sense of humor. This movie reminds people that handling large amounts of money can be a difficult and morally questionable activity. It is possible for these kinds of situations to occur in the world. People will need to be prepared to take tough decisions when it happens and to accept the consequences. People will destroy relationships as they become greedy.

I was unsure of the impact classical music had on the history of the world at large. It was amazing to learn about different eras and music through this course. We spoke a lot on how each time society was run and what expectations musicians had. These pieces were chosen because of their incredible arrangements and profound social impact.

Josquin’s Kyrie, for his Missa Pange Lingua. It was my favorite piece. This polyphonic song would have been used during Mass in the early medieval period. This music is significant because it marks the beginning of organum and changes in the church’s way of doing things. The idea that secular music could blend with the sacred and appear in churches was a problem for the medieval ecclesial society. They considered the harmonies too distracting from the lyrics and unnecessary for worship. The change was accepted by important religious leaders and gave the music of the church a lighter quality. It also removed the emphasis on serious worship that the church had become accustomed to. This piece stands out for its beauty. It shows how beautiful organum music became, and it is a stark contrast with the repetitive and boring initial chants. Beethoven’s Symphony #5 was another piece I found to be very enjoyable. The piece was originally not my favorite because I had only heard Movement 1 once before, but after hearing Movement 2, it became my favourite. The music’s raw emotion made me re-appreciate Movement 1 after listening to it. He infused the composition with his thoughts, feelings and emotions unlike other composers. Beethoven was a critic of society, and created music that was different from the rest.

They rebelled against parents’ traditional values. The Beatles brought new ideas and not just good music to the world. They introduced new awareness to the United States and made many political and social changes. All hippies believed the Beatles preached peace, love and civil rights. Many parents believed in the actions of the younger generation. The baby boom created a large age gap which caused a shift in how teenagers and parents behaved in the 60s. The Beatles did more than make great music. They had a profound influence on the thinking and lives of millions. They were one the most prominent and popular groups to oppose segregation. They performed in Jacksonville for their first ever U.S. concert tour. They were shocked to learn that their concert was being held in segregated areas and decided not to perform for segregated audiences. Bruce Mirken wrote about The Beatles, and how it was one of America’s most beloved bands at the time. They were not afraid to express their beliefs, and they thought segregation was terrible. They said that they didn’t play to segregated audiences, and they weren’t going to begin now. This caused some hostility from the media. People were less scared to stand up for the rights of everyone, since a well-known band did. This realization made Americans treat each other worse, leading to many teenage rebels against their parents and the society they live in. It’s been many years since the Beatles were mentioned in our society. Popular culture has adopted a conservatism that is still very much alive. Overall, the Beatles had a significant impact on teen culture. They were a major influence on music and hippie movements. They also spoke out for human rights, which led to the birth of human rights movements. The Beatles have had a profound influence on people, something that is beautiful.

Jane Elliot, a Riceville teacher, engages her third grade students in a brown-blue experiment. The purpose of the experiment is to teach children about discrimination and prejudice. This same experiment was repeated with adults two years later.

They also enjoyed certain privileges over the other children. The brown-eyed students were told by her that they weren’t doing their best and they had less recess. The students were all friends and worked well together before the experiment. But, the experiment was over, and they began to hate one another. The experiment started with both the blue and brown students showing discrimination during recess. Students started acting this way because they believed their group was superior to the other, and they felt that the others weren’t being treated fair. The students displayed hatred of the other group, as well as hatred at home. Elliot changed all that when she said to the blue-eyed groups that they were now superior. Whichever group was told it was “superior” achieved better results and worked faster than the other. The teacher gave the project to the brown-eyed students in 2 and 1/2 minutes. They completed it in 5 minutes. The experiment had an impact on the students’ academic skills. This was evident when they got lower grades for being inferior, higher grades for being superior, and overall higher grades after it was over. The experiment was completed and the teacher assured the students that all are created equal, no one is superior to anyone, regardless of eye color. Students were happy to see the experiment end. They felt that everyone was equal and that no one is better than anyone else, especially when they have families. Her students took the knowledge they gained about dealing with prejudice and discrimination to teach their children to not hate people of different races or colors. Elliot’s children admitted to having taught their kids racism. But, they said that they’ve heard their children use racist slurs. What they did not learn was from their parents and was probably learned from other students.

Jane Elliot was conducting an experiment with adults. The blue-eyed people waited for half an hours outside. They finally entered the room. Similar to Elliot’s students, the adults believed they were superior and started to notice the worst traits about each other. Elliot started to become very angry with one lady because she made the brown people feel superior and degraded the blue. After the experiment was concluded, the blue-eyed participants informed Elliot of their feelings of powerlessness, hopelessness and discomfort.

Jane Elliot’s brow/blue eyed experiment demonstrates how discrimination can feel. Although prejudice has been an issue in my past, I have never felt it as a significant factor in my own life. I understand how discriminatory it can be, especially for a minority. People of other races might feel superior to you, but if they were in your shoes, they might think differently.

Mel Gibson’s Passion of the Christ by Mel Gibson was a disturbing movie. While it was a well-made movie, the possible events that took place are very disturbing. It’s also among the most brutal movies I have ever witnessed. The torture and pain Jesus endured made up more than half the movie. After the torture started, I lost track of the title. I was baffled by the idea of passion. This made me wonder if Jesus enjoyed it. Is this Jesus’ passion? It made sense after Robert Ebert’s review. Robert Ebert clarifies, “Passion is often confused with romance.” In fact, it is the Latin for pain. Later, Christ’s meaning was changed to mean “love for mankind”. It was thus used. The title was pain/suffering Christ. Jesus suffers throughout the film. It could be mental, verbal, or physical pain. He is not only suffering from hatred, torture, and betrayal. This is the most terrible kind of pain I know.

It is difficult to pick a favorite. The entire movie felt like one long, unending scene. Jesus asking for forgiveness of those who caused his death and made it so difficult for him was what stood out for me. The movie shows him asking for forgiveness many times. I am specifically referring to the scene when he hangs from the cross. He is criticized by the leader for not being a Messiah, and he doesn’t even get down from the cross. He reminds Christ about how he claimed he could rebuild their temple in three days and destroy it. He leaves the cross and almost challenges him. Jesus, at that time, still prays to God for forgiveness and confesses that he doesn’t know what he is doing. This scene is important because even though he couldn’t move, he demonstrated how great and powerful he was. Everyone paused as he prayed and most likely thought, “Wait a minute. What?” I find it so amazing that people will kill each other over the smallest things. I also wonder how someone can have such a big heart to risk their life for the sake of his people. He also mentioned that there were soldiers that wanted to be involved in this effort but could not resist. The weather suddenly changes once everyone is gone. The skies get darker and the clouds appear. There is also wind. The music becomes louder. Then it’s over. Although not enough to cause actual harm, the earthquake is sufficient to fulfill the leader’s request. The temple was also torn down and Jesus was taken off the cross at the end. The movie made me feel numb. This movie is also very intense due to its connection with religion. You get what you pay for. If someone is looking to truly understand the story about Jesus Christ, this movie will be a great help. The story was familiar to me before I watched this movie. However, I didn’t know much about it. It was more like, oh my goodness, I was shedding tears as I thought about how cruel people can be.

This is a relatively new phenomenon that can be analyzed using the lense Rock & Roll’s history. If one examines the history of Rock & Roll, it is easy to see icons like Chuck Berry, Elvis Presley, and Jimi Hendrix. Janis Joplin, Kurt Cobain and other extreme emotions figures were impossible to match. While Bob Dylan is not the first name that pops up when we think of the 1960s rock stars, it’s hard to ignore his contribution towards counterculture. He is one of the greatest artists of that decade and he never missed an opportunity to voice his disapproval at being called the ‘political voices of a nation’. Bob Dylan’s ability to express emotion is unmatched by Jimi and Jimi Hendrix. The 1960s witnessed great social, technological and technological changes. The generation’s desire to change was reflected in acts of protest like the civil rights movement and second wave feminism. The United States had a difficult decade in the 1960s. This was not due to the stagnant conflict with Vietnam or the imminent threat of nuclear war against Soviet Russia. But because America was making domestic changes. Millions of post-World War II children became teenagers and rebelled against conservatism in the ’50s. Popular music was subject to civil rights protests, drug experiences and interracial dating. Although elements have been part of teenagers’ everyday lives throughout America, they were not well-known or widely distributed through popular music. Bob Dylan’s music helped to soundtrack the cultural and social movements in the ’60s. While Joan Baez and Joni Mitchell also made popular music that reflected the ethos of 1960s America, Dylan is the most representative of this genre. Dylan’s “protest phase” was a huge success with the American youth. Dylan’s lyrics inspired them to pay more attention to the world around them than what they are reading in newspapers and on TV. Two of Dylan’s most famous pieces, “Masters of War” and “Blowin’ In the Wind”, were featured in The Freewheelin’ Bob Dylan’s album. “Blowin’ on the Wind” became a popular song during civil rights. “Masters of War,” however, effectively expresses worry and fear about the United States as well as the world in general during the Cold War or Vietnam War eras. He believes that answers are available, and they are everywhere, around everyone. Yet, they go unnoticed.

Dylan is saying political leaders, hiding in their offices, send soldiers out at risk to perform dirty work and give the appearance of loyalty to their state. You have never done anything.

When the bullets are flying fast. People responsible for war behave as though war is an endless game. Dylan says that this is because they treat war like a small toy. Dylan considers war a serious matter. He believes military leaders must be more mindful of the lives and safety of their soldiers. Masters of War was a cold protest song against the Cold War leaders and those who made crucial military decisions while safe in their offices. You lie, deceive

I see through your mind. Dylan claims that the military leaders try to lie to the American people, and label the government as distrustful. Dylan’s Masters of War provoked an overwhelming emotional response among its listeners. It exposed the brutal realities of war, which caused disgust in the government. Dylan tried to educate his audience through this song by telling them that those in control of our military (“the masters”) are corrupt and motivated only by money, not protection of soldiers. This is because they don’t care about the suffering and death of those they lead, as long as it is profitable for them or in some way benefits the elite. You have created the most fear

Fear was a key factor in the Cold War and Cuban Missile Crisis. Both the United States of America and the Soviet Union feared taking decisive action. This was something people could not live with, and particularly not bring their kids into. Some might argue that I’m too young.

Some might argue that I am not a learned person.

But here’s something I do know.

Forgive me for all that I have done. Dylan’s lyrics reflected the sentiments of youth across the country. The lines “You might say I’m young, but you might claim I’m not learned,” were apt for the section of the population who would rise in the 1960s to join the march on Washington and at the Pentagon. Although politicians dismissed these people as being immature and idealistic they would be seen by the rest of America as young people who were motivated and willing to fight to change. Dylan provided dissidents with a voice and helped unify people through his music. The 1960s were a decade filled with political and social turmoil. Despite all the turmoil, there was some good news: Kennedy’s vision and civil rights revolution and space exploration were key to bringing about prosperity and progress. Many negative things were also happening: anti-war and student protest movements, assassinations, riots, and political assassinations all contributed to the decline in public respect for government authorities. Despite being dismissed by lawmakers as immature or idealistic, these young Americans would still show enthusiasm and be willing to fight for the change. “Masters of War,” a tone of moral outrage is used to describe government officials. Dylan says that money cannot buy forgiveness for corrupt and immoral decisions politicians and war profiteers make in order to advance their own interests at the expense of the rest of the world.

Dylan’s reference of the soul communicates that all people are the same after death. A life of greed and unjust behavior can never be replaced by money. Dylan closes the song by delivering a clear, yet grim message. He expresses genuine hatred towards profiteers as well as warmongers.

Although many Americans consider the war in Afghanistan a failure to win, the United States is still involved. Dylan’s fame and the fact his music is still a popular theme in American society prove that America can be united, even when there are extreme tensions. Dylan’s music unites musicians, students as well politicians and civil right leaders. Dylan’s ability and talent to reach a wider audience than his peers was unmatched by any of his peers. He was also an extremist because of his opposition to government decisions. Dylan’s political stances do not reflect the music despite the passionate tone it emits. Dylan’s 60s music was political, but it is obvious that Dylan was more of an activist than a singer. His early commentary on political issues, such as civil right, earned him the title of protest songsmith extraordinaire and the voice for his generation. Some people believe that Dylan’s absence of affiliation is a way to downplay the genius of Dylan’s song. However, it is obvious that Dylan’s words were true to so many people.

Selena Quintanilla is a singer and songwriter. It’s some of the most beautiful music you will ever hear. Selena was an inspiration to me and I loved her music. Selena started singing when she was young and began her band with family members and her friends. She attended two universities, Pacific Western University as well as Louisiana State University. Both of these Universities were her graduations. She was known for her contributions to music, fashion and music. Selena Quintanilla exhibited a lot of respect and kindness to all people.

She also was her former manager. She was only 23 years old at the time she was gunned down in Corpus Christi. She was gunned down at a motel after Yolanda had finished telling her about her rape in Mexico. Yolanda saldivar shot Selena Quintanilla in the right chest. Selena graduated from Louisiana State University and Pacific Western University. Madonna, Madonna and Janet Jackson were the primary influences on Selena’s dance moves, music and fashion. Selena once said, “If anyone takes your dream away, they won’t give it to you.” Selena also loves pizza, and her movie is Selena. She was my favorite artist because I loved her music growing up and would dance to it when I was sad or bored.

Selena Quintanilla was loved by over 65 million people before her death. Her concerts were always free and she would hand out t-shirts, signed cups, photos, and sometimes even hugged her fans. She was loved by so many and she left them devastated. Selena was also well-known for her beauty. People would often take photos with her because they loved her beauty and how kind she was. They would feel special when they met Selena in person. Selena Quintanilla has been a hero to me. Selena Quintanilla is an inspiration to all people because she helped make the world a better place. Selena was a tireless advocate for education and would visit every school to encourage children to stay in school.

Selena Quintanilla is a person I discovered about that was not known before. Her husband Chris Perez was also in Selena’s band when they were children. She was a great inspiration to me. She would travel across the country to talk to students about the importance of staying in school. Selena Quintalilla’s height was 5’5 when she died, and she would have been 47 had she lived.
